Emergency First Response Certification

Many divers take the Emergency First Response courses to meet program prerequisites, such as PADI Rescue Diver, or as preparation for becoming a PADI Dive Master. The EFR certification is also important in every day life and the work force. Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) teaches you how to deal with emergencies that are immediately life threatening. You will focus on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure you have the knowledge, understanding and confidence to use your skills.

AquaAmy has been teaching this course in the Caribbean since 2001 as an independent contractor developing approved classes through Red Cross, A&E, PADI, N.A.U.I, and United States Coast Guard regulations. Open Water Certification

The PADI Open Water Diver course is incredibly flexible and performance based, AquaAmy offers the program on a wide variety of schedules, and paced according to how fast you progress. It's possible to complete your confined and open water dives in as few as three or four days (provided you take care of reading the manual and watching the video ahead of time).

Knowledge Development – This develops your familiarity with basic principles and procedures. You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best gear and what to consider when planning dives.

You can complete Knowledge Development on your own, reading each of five sections of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and watching the corresponding section of the PADI Open Water Diver Video (which also previews skills you'll learn). If you like learning with a personal computer, you can also get the Open Water Diver Manual and Video together as a CD-ROM. You briefly review what you studied in each section with your instructor and take a short quiz to be sure you're getting it. At the end of the course, you take an exam that makes sure you've got all the key concepts and ideas down.

Confined Water Dives – This is what it's all about – diving. You develop basic scuba skills in a pool or off the beach with pool-like conditions. Here you'll learn everything from setting up your gear to how to easily get water out of your mask without surfacing. You'll also practice some emergency skills, like sharing air – just in case. Plus, you may play some games, make new friends and have a great time.

There are five confined water dives, with each building upon the previous. Over the course of these five dives, you attain the skills you need to dive in open water.

Open Water Dives – After your confined water dives, you and the new friends you've made continue learning during four open water dives with AquaAmy at a dive site. This is where you have fun putting it all together and fully experience the underwater adventure.

Number of Dives: Five Confined Water Dives and Four Open Water Dives
Knowledge Development: Five sessions
Prerequisites: 10 for Junior Open Water Diver and 15 for Open Water Diver. Good health, reasonable fitness and comfort in the water.
Materials You'll Need: PADI Open Water Crew-Pak, PADI Open Water Video or DVD, Log Book.
Equipment you'll use during the course includes: mask, fins, snorkel, tank, regulator, buoyancy compensator, submersible pressure gauge and exposure protection as required by the local environment.

Advanced Diver Certification

With your AquaAmy Instructor you complete the deep and underwater navigation Adventure Dives. These dives boost your confidence as you build your foundational skills. Choose three additional dives from more than 15 Adventure Dives to complete your course. You can go diving at night, check out the local wrecks in the area or even fly through the ocean on a diver propulsion vehicle – all during your Advanced Open Water Diver course.

  • You must be a PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization) and 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
  • Number of dives: Five dives
  • Adventure Dive options include altitude diving, AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, deep diving, diver propulsion vehicle use, drift diving, dry suit diving, multilevel and computer diving, night diving, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater nature study, underwater navigation, underwater photography, underwater venography and wreck diving

Rescue Diver Certification

Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is challenging, it is a rewarding way to build your confidence. Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they've ever taken. In this course you will cover:

Dive Master Certification

You learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action through an internship or series of practical training exercises.

Knowledge Development: 12 topics ranging from dive theory to assisting student divers in training
Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization), PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization), 20 logged dives, 18 years old.
Minimum Number of Logged Dives: 60 for certification as PADI Dive master

Emergency First Response Primary Care

Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR)

teaches you how to deal with emergencies that are immediately life threatening. You will focus on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice to make sure you have the knowledge, understanding and confidence to use your skills.

covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening or when local EMS is unavailable or delayed. You focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice. The Secondary Care (first aid) skills are:

  • Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures

The courses are approximately eight hours in length.

First Aid Certification

Scuba Testimonials

My sons and I were on a scuba excursion with you last week. I am trying to identify the type of ray we say while we were snorkeling. It was approximately 36 inches in diameter with a long thin tail about 12 feet long. We were in about 10 to 15 feet of water. The ray had a well defined head. The top surface was about 50/50 white and blue in asymmetric pattern. What we saw of bottom appeared to be white. Upon arriving home we searched the Internet looking at pictures but still cant identify it. It was definitely not a well defined pattern such as the pictures of spotted eagle rays that we saw online. Any ideas of what this was.

In any regard thanks for making my children's first scuba (scuba) dive a pleasant experience!

Lobster Diving

Hey Amy. Thanks for the hook up with Russell who in turn hooked us up with captain CC. We did 2 dives yesterday and had such a great experience. CC took us to his dive spots and we caught 6 lobsters all about 4 1/2 lbs each. No fish big enough to spear but such a great day of diving!

Good Morning Amy. This is Randy and Henry, we were there on the Monday of September 1, 2009 and we had a GREAT time diving, you are a Great teacher and we will always have a desire to come back, and of course we now are HOOKED on diving and are planning a trip in the near further. I hope you do remember us, remember Henry is the one that was a BIG MAN that had all the muscles, and I was the one that you were concerned about the weight belt not staying on because you said I didn't have a BUTT (By the way I think he has a good looking BUTT- His Wife) just joking.
